1. Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Welcome to my guide for Kal Online! This is the first of what I hope to be many
guides I write to assist players with one of my favorite online games. My goal
for this guide is to provide you with the information on the various methods
of enhancing you weapon in game. I will be describing different methods that
you can use to make your weapon better as well as talk about important items
that will be crucial to the success of making your weapon even stronger! Thank
you for your interest in my guide and I hope you enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Common Terminology
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clean ~ A weapon that has not manually been enhanced by a user. Weapons bought
from Weapon Merchants and dropped from enemies are all clean.
Expert ~ A natural clean drop from an enemy that already has the best positive
stats on it for its intended class. It is the most commonly sought after of
the natural drops and is the most expensive.
Grade ~ The level of a weapon. Can be seen in quotes below weapon name.
Pimp ~ The frequently used slang term referring to the act of taking a weapon
and enhancing it by various means.
Pimped ~ The frequently used slang term referring to a weapon that has been
highly enhanced.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. Talismans
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are currently three different types of talismans that can be used on
weapons. Each type changes your weapon’s attributes differently and the
following is a detailed synopsis of how they each alter the enhanced weapon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3A. Talismans of Attack/Magic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Acquiring: These are most common types of talismans around and are the most
important and widely used by players to improve their weapon. These can always
be purchased from the Merchant of any town for approximately five thousand
geon a piece. Please note that Talismans of Attack may be used on any of the
three classes of weapons, while Talismans of Magic can only be used on mage
Sticks. These types of talismans can only be used on weapons whose grade is at
least 40 or higher.
Usage: To use one of these talismans all you have to do is unequip the weapon
you wish to enhance and then drag the talisman over it in your inventory. With
every one of these that succeed the weapon’s Minimum/Maximum Physical Attack or
Minimum/Maximum Magical Attack will permantly increase by a certain amount,
depending on how many of them you have previously and successfully added.
The following tells you the Attack Increase received from the given number of
successfully added talismans. (More numbers will be added as I get them.)
+1 ~ +1 Increase
+2 ~ +2 Increase
+3 ~ +4 Increase
+4 ~ +6 Increase
+5 ~ +9 Increase
+6 ~ +12 Increase
+7 ~ +16 Increase
+8 ~ +20 Increase
+9 ~ +25 Increase
+10 ~ +30 Increase
+11 ~ +35 Increase
+12 ~ +41 Increase
+13 ~ +47 Increase
+14 ~ +54 Increase
+15 ~ +61 Increase
+16 ~ +69 Increase
+17 ~ +77 Increase
Failure: The safety is granted for the first four of each of these talismans
that you add. This means that starting with the fifth one you add, there is
a chance of it failing. The higher the weapon’s grade, and the higher the
number of previously successfully added talismans, the higher chance that
it will break after 4 talismans. When one of these types of talismans fails
there are only two possible outcomes. The first is that your weapon will lose
1-3 points of endurance. Once its endurance reaches 0 it will break. The
second is that your weapon will outright immediately break. The higher the
number of talismans the more likely it is to break.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3B. Talismans of Intensification
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Acquiring: These uncommon talismans are dropped by just about every single
enemy in the Kal world. The only way to get one of these is to continually
fight large amounts of a targeted enemy and hope you get lucky. Or you can do
the easier thing and simply buy them from other’s private shops. Prices
are varied between shops and its best to shop for these in Narootuh or Cargo
Station as it is here where new players have their shops and many severely
underprice them unknowingly.
Usage: To use one of these talismans you also only have to unequip the
weapon you wish to enhance and then drag the talisman over it within your
inventory. These talismans add a certain amount of stat points when you have
the enhanced weapon equiped. They include Strength, Health, Wisdom, Intelli-
gence, and Agility. The stat points added vary between talismans so it is
important to check the numbers on each talisman you buy and use. These tali-
smans contain 2 green numbers written on them, each with the percentage of its
success next to it. The top number is the “best” stat and is generally the
number you buy the talismon for and is what you want to succeed. The bottom
number is the worse of the two stats and usually has a higher percentage of
success. Many players, including myself, feel getting the bottom stat is a
failure due to it not being what you buy the TOI for. The top stat is what
is important and thus it is what they are named after.
(Example ~ A “10/3 Agility” TOI is called a “Gliding” because the +10 Agility
attribute is called Gliding, while the +3 one is called Instant.)
When one of these talismons succeeds, you will get either the top or bottom stat
added to your weapon; the top one if you have great luck. The newly enhanced
weapon will also be given the name of the attribute in front of its clean name.
(Example ~ A “ChulTae Bow” that you successfully add +3 Agility to, will have
its named changed to “Instant ChulTae Bow”.)
Failure: The failure of a TOI is considered when you get neither the top nor
bottom of the stats on your weapon and only depends on each talismans percent
of success. Adding more TOIs will not decrease the chance of success for future
TOIs. While a failed TOI will never break your weapon, you will always lose 5
endurance points. Thus, your weapon can only break on a failed TOI if its fails
when you enhance having 5 or less endurance points remaining. Please note that
previous stats will be overwritten if a new TOI is successfully added.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3C. Talismans of Accuracy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Acquiring: These rare talismans can only be dropped from high level enemies.
They can be bought from player’s personal shops but they are some of the most
expensive weapon talismans around so make sure too shop around before you buy.
Usage: Again, all you need to do to use one is unequip your weapon and then drag
it over the weapon. For every single one of these that you successfully add,
your weapon will gain 1 On Target Point. When it succeeds, the prefix
“Strengthened” will also be added in front of your weapon’s name.
(Example: A “ChulTae Bow” will become “Strengthened ChulTae Bow”.)
Failure: The safety is only granted for the very first of these that you add,
meaning that the second and beyond have a chance of failing and destroying your
weapon. With every one of these you successfully add, it will lower the chance
of the next one to be added without failing. There is a chance that your weapon
will break if one of these fails. I cannot afford to experiment with these
talismons to determine how many endurance points you can lose, but from asking
my guild, I found that it is possible to lose 15 endurance points. I will look
further into this and update accordingly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Fixing Tools
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These items are used to repair the endurance points of your weapon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4A. Normal Fixing Tool
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Normal Fixing Tool item can be bought from any Merchant in the towns. This
item will recover 1 endurance point that has been lost due to a failed attempt
at adding a talisman. I recomend that you always use these items to fix your
endurance until its full before adding any talismans.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4B. Artisans Fixing Tool
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This item may be bought from any town Merchant. When used on a weapon it will
restore 5 endurance points to it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4C. Doggebis Fixing Tool
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This item can only be found in a monster-dropped bag. When used on a weapon
it will fully restore all of its endurance points. Though it can also break
your weapon if it has very low endurance to begin with.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5. Explosive Blow
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Explosive Blow is additional damage that a weapon can do. In order to add EB
you must talk to the “BlackSmith”. Depending on how high your next EB level
attempt is, you will be charged higher and higher ammounts by the Blacksmith
for him to add more. You can only have a max EB equal to the number of Talis-
mons of Attack/Magic that you have on your weapon. The way EB works is that the
higher the level on your weapon, the greater the chance of it activating while
you are fighting an enemy.
(For Example: A weapon with level 10 EB has a chance of the EB activating of
exactly 15%.)
The following steps are how to add EB to your weapon.
1. Add a Talismon of Attack/Magic to your desired weapon.
2. Find the BlackSmith in Temporary Fort.
3. Unequiped your weapon and talk to him.
4. Choose the “Applying Explosive Blow” option.
5. Select your weapon and hit “Start”.
6. From here it will either succeed or fail.
The percentage of it successfully reaching the next level can be seen in the
“Applying Explosive Blow” window. If it fails, your weapon will break so be
sure to always increase the chance of it working to 100%, more on this later.
A weapon with EB on it will be given a suffix in parentheses with the EB’s
level number inside.
(For Example: A bow that has a level 5 EB will be called something like
“+6 ChulTae Bow [5]”, with the 5 being the EB level.
6. Misc Items
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Various important items involving weapon enhancing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6A. Polishing Stones
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Polishing Stones are a KalCash only item. What these do is that they allow you
to add a talisman to a weapon and make the chances of it being destroyed or
losing endurance due to a failure 0%. A talisman can still fail but at least
you can be certain that it will not destroy your weapon. A Polishing Stone will
only work for a single talisman enhancing attempt so you may need many to
achieve your desired level. Polishing Stones are must for your highed grade
weapons, unless you do not care if it breaks, due to their extreme rarity
and high costs. When you add a Polishing Stone, your weapon will glow a bright
silver-white until you use a talisman on it.
As of this guide’s version, you can get 5 Polishing Stones for 59 KalCash.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
6B. Revision Stones
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Revision Stones are the items that are used to increase the chance of getting
your Explosive Blow’s level higher. To increase the chance of success on a
weapon talk to the BlackSmith and select the “Revise the percentage of
Success” option. Then choose your desired weapon and hit “Start Revising
Percentage”. Make sure to ALWAYS continue to add stones until the chance is
100%. Otherwise your weapon will break. The higher the next level of EB you
are trying to revise, the more Revision Stones you will need. The following are
the methods you can use to obtain Revision Stones.
1. Break weapons with failed talisman enhancing attempts. The more Attack/Magic
ones it had when it broke, the more stones you will get.
2. Break Rings, Belts, and Trinkets for 1 Revision Stone each.
3. Break grade 42 armors and above. The higher the grade the more stones you
will receive.
4. There is a chance that an enemy in Dungeon 4 will drop a stone.
